Xylinum Stool 2011, March
The »Xylinum Stool« is part of a research project, posing the question what future materials could be like, if we used biological processes for production?
The title Xylinum is the name of the bacterium which produces an artificial cellulose material. This bacterium consumes sugar and builds a cellulose fibre structure around any given form.
The aim of the project is to create an iconic image for a new production culture. This »real« object is supposed to function as a foundation for further discussion around the topic of biotechnology.
